This design reimagines a lei woven from words and ideas connected to mālama ʻāina, reciprocity, and connection. Leis are made with intention, and that intention becomes part of what they carry. In the same way, the words woven into this piece were chosen to hold meaning and express care and connection. Created to adorn the wearer, the design offers those values as something to carry close, while also honoring Hilo as home and the place where those roots take hold.
About the Collaboration
Created in collaboration with Aloha Grown, this collection centers around mālama kākou—care for the land and for one another. Each piece is meant to honor the everyday acts of stewardship that help our communities thrive.
